After your book’s interior layout is complete (also known as typesetting), we will have a highly trained proofreader review the pages for any last errors that need to be corrected. Simultaneous with this proofread, you will also have the opportunity to do one last review of the PDF before we go to print
- Download and open your PDF document in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Reader is a free PDF program, which you can download here. Don’t use the online version from your browser as it is often problematic with saving comments.
- Once your file is open in Adobe Reader, change your view settings. Click, “View” on the top menu bar, then select both “Two Page View” and “Show Cover Page in Two Page View.” This will allow you to review your manuscript layout as you would if you were reading it as a book. (To ensure that it is set up correctly, make sure the page numbered 1 is on the right side of the two-page view.)
- Select the “Comment” Toolbar on the right hand menu, then use comments and highlights on the top bar for review.
- At this stage of review, you should be looking for errors with layout like:
- Pages that may be out of order or missing
- Typos and minor proofreading issues
- Upside down text
- Incorrect page numbering
- Incorrect heading treatment
- Incorrect images
- Inconsistent line or text spacing
- Other text positioning and layout issues
- Save your file with the date and your initials in the file name. For example: BOOK_LAYOUT_02MAR23_SLW.
- Add your file to the applicable folder in your Client Google Drive and let us know when it is complete.
- If you wish to make larger editorial changes, like deleting or moving sections or adding large amounts of text, please note that it will increase the duration and cost of the layout process.
