Julia Considine Pierce, educator and advocate for girls’ health, has released her debut children’s book, My Body is Sacred: Tales of Health and Wellness for Little Girls, a thoughtful and empowering guide that helps young girls understand the importance of caring for their bodies and embracing their worth.

By sharing the stories of Alayah, Mahaba, Laila, and Harmony, Pierce takes her audience on a journey of curiosity, courage, and self-respect. Through each character, young readers see kindness, confidence, and a strong sense of personal boundaries in action, learning how to stand up for themselves, prioritize their well-being, and navigate friendships with empathy.
Guided by gentle conversations with Divine Love, the book introduces age-appropriate lessons on anatomy, hygiene, exercise, healthy relationships, and personal care—helping little girls cultivate a sense of safety, pride, and joy in their own bodies. Accompanied by vibrant, inclusive illustrations, these stories create an engaging experience that is both accessible and inspiring.

“In My Body is Sacred, Julia Considine Pierce has given us a treasure,” said Dona Matthews, PhD, developmental psychologist and author of Imperfect Parenting: How to Build a Relationship with Your Child to Weather Any Storm. “This book can help young girls learn to love themselves and others, inside and out. It inspires and teaches kindness, respect, mindfulness, confidence, and strength. I look forward to sharing this book with all the young girls in my life.”
Pierce skillfully weaves storytelling with practical guidance, introducing medically accurate, non-sexualized information about vulvar and vaginal health. She provides tools that empower young minds to build independence and agency, as well as fruitful spiritual practices such as mindfulness, reflection, and prayer.
Lori A. Evarts, MPH, PMP, CPH, MBTI, Associate Professor & Associate Chair for Academics, UNC, said, “My Body is Sacred is a fantastic, age-appropriate introduction to health education. I highly recommend it to parents and educators looking to provide young girls with a positive, empowering resource on self-care and health.”
