Otterpine is thrilled to announce the release of Hiking South Korea by Erik Palin. This comprehensive and strikingly beautiful guide details excursions throughout South Korea that are perfect for avid hikers and curious tourists alike. We are proud to recognize this book as the only Korean hiking guide geared toward English speakers on the market.
We worked with Erik’s family previously when we helped his teen daughter Vivienne publish her middle-grade novel, The Magic Sphere, in May 2023. We have come to admire the Palin family for their curiosity and creativity as they find inspiration for their work while traveling the globe.
Before Erik went to South Korea on assignment for the U.S. military many years ago, he had never been on a hike or seen a mountain in real life. While living in Asia for twenty years, Erik hiked across South Korea in its entirety. Feeling inspired by this experience, Erik used the knowledge he gained to inspire and assist other English speakers to summit across South Korea.
The book details hikes all over mainland South Korea and includes a special focus on the hidden gem of Geoje Island. Hiking South Korea approaches the beautiful landscapes of mainland Korea with accessibility in mind. From seasoned hikers to families with strollers, this guide provides detailed information on hikes to suit anyone interested in basking in Korea’s impressive views, also including helpful information about safety, climate, what to pack, and a glossary of useful Korean phrases.
When crafting this book, we took special care to create a visually striking and easy-to-use experience. Complete with high-definition, full-color photographic spreads of breathtaking views around Korea, detailed maps, and essential hike details and descriptions, this guidebook is as inspiring as it is informative. Hiking South Korea captures the raw beauty of South Korea in all seasons and from all altitudes.
Hiking South Korea is available in paperback and E-Book on Amazon and the author’s website, erikpalin.com.
