Otterpine is proud to announce the release of White Women, Get Ready: How Healing from Post-Traumatic Mistress Syndrome Leads to Anti-Racist Change by Amanda K Gross. As a culmination of her personal experiences as a white woman and her work as an anti-racist organizer, this book—part historical analysis, part memoir, and part call to action—tells the story of how white ladies have been groomed to uphold overlapping systems of oppression and how they can use their unique positioning to help upend these violent structures.
At Otterpine, we are committed to supporting authors whose craft creates positive change. Whether an author needs to forge pathways to funding or create a platform from scratch, we offer support in all forms. We were so honored to be able to help Amanda as a local Asheville author and woman carving her own trail through the social justice world. Through developmental editing, book design, and crowdfunding resources, we were able to support Amanda as she built a supportive community eagerly awaiting the arrival of her book.
With a combination of thorough research, astute analysis, and illuminating personal narrative, Amanda challenges readers to face the uncomfortable truths of white womanhood in order to dismantle its legacies, all while providing embodied tools to engage with the complexities of our identities, traumas, and harms.
Amanda’s vision for White Women, Get Ready is part of a larger picture: white women getting a sense of their individual and collective power and then using it accountably to further collective liberation for all beings. She dreams that readers will read this book both alone and in groups to spark mobilizing conversations that will help them to change and heal from the inside out.
White Women, Get Ready is essential reading for those who contend with white womanhood, seek to take action, and understand that the health and well-being for us is not separate from the health and well-being of all.
White Women, Get Ready is available in paperback and e-book on Amazon.
