Abby Houston, artist, community builder, and food lover, has released Food Stories: A Conversation Card Deck, a heartfelt collection of 72 questions designed to bring people closer together through the language of food.
Food Stories invites players to reflect on their own lives and share meaningful experiences with others. Each card opens a door to a new memory, emotion, or perspective, reminding us that food is more than just what we eat; it’s about the love that nourishes us, the traditions that anchor us, and the connections that sustain us through life.

The deck can transform a simple meal into an opportunity for storytelling, laughter, and understanding. Families can rediscover one another at the dinner table, couples can strengthen intimacy through deeper conversations, and friends can create unforgettable moments while cooking or sharing takeout.
Food Stories can be enjoyed solo or with others. Players can reflect on a card alone, journal, or let it inspire a meal. In groups, take turns drawing a card and sharing answers, or use them at dinner parties to spark conversation throughout the meal. For a playful twist, one player can act as a judge, collecting anonymous answers and trying to match them to players. Approach each card with curiosity, skip any that feel too personal, and remember: The best moments often happen over something delicious.

Beautifully designed and crafted for everyday use, the deck encourages us to slow down, be curious, and listen. Many players find themselves surprised by the depth of stories that emerge from a single card, whether it is a lighthearted memory of a favorite snack or a profound reflection on the role food played in their healing.
